Daniel Powell

Daniel was born and raised in Dayton Ohio. Joined the United States Army 1981, 1st Duty Station was Bamberg Germany for 2 years. Then October 1983 was transferred to E. Co. 6 BN 31st Infantry Ft. Irwin, California. June 19, 1985 Daniel ETS out of the United States Army and June 21, 1985 started his civilian career with Boeing Services International until October 1986 as a Tank Mechanic. In 1986 DynCorp took over Boeing Contract. He worked with DynCorp until 1996 as a Lead Mechanic, Tank and Wheel Mechanic. In 1996 ITT Industries Systems took over the DynCorp contract. He worked for ITT until October 2001 as a Turret Mechanic. In 2001 Vinnell Corporation took over ITT’s Contract. Daniel has worked for Vinnell (now Northrop Grumman) until present as a Lead Mechanic. (25 years seniority with Teamsters Union Local 166)

After a 18 year military break in service Daniel joined United States Army National Guard in 2003. Daniel was deployed in October 2004 to Kosovo until January 2006. Then again deployed in April 2008 to Kuwait until 2009, and then was extended July 2009 to April 2010 in Iraq.

As of January 2010 Daniel has 14 years of Military Service and as of June 2010 Daniel has 25 years as Civilian at Ft. Irwin. And as of October 2010 has 27 years combined time at Ft. Irwin.

Daniel’s interests are family, friends, horses, hunting, exercise and jogging around Ft. Irwin year around.
