June News Report

IAP World Services received their new contractual wage increase and are waiting for their back pay.  Hospital Klean members continue with their vital responsibilities to both the public and the Government.  Swiss Dairy Plant is experiencing some layoffs and the Union is monitoring the bumping process.  Heartland Farms is in the process of being purchased by Dean Foods.  Heritage Foods Riverside is going through the process of a plant wide re-bid of jobs.  Shop Steward Frank Elizlade resolved an issue at Heritage Ontario involving management threatening a member with layoff if he did not increase his productivity.

IF YOU BECOME UNEMPLOYED IN THE JURISDICTION OF THE LOCAL UNION, YOU WILL BE ISSUED A WITHDRAWAL CARD UPON REQUEST PROVIDING ALL DUES AND OTHER FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS ARE PAID  TO THE LOCAL UNION, INCLUDING THE DUES FOR THE MONTH IN WHICH THE WITHDRAWAL CARD IS EFFECTIVE.

IF YOU ARE ON DUES CHECK-OFF WITH YOUR COMPANY AND LEAVE FOR ANY REASON AND DUES ARE NOT DEDUCTED, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP YOUR DUES CURRENT OR REQUEST A WITHDRAWAL CARD FROM THE LOCAL UNION OFFICE (BLOOMINGTON (909) 877-8326 / BARSTOW (760) 256-0181).

To all Local 166 members:

When any dispute arises, an attempt shall first be made to settle the matter amicably by conference between you, a Union steward if so desired, and your immediate supervisor. If called upon at this step of the grievance procedure, a Union representative and supervisor or other representative of the Company may also attempt settlement.

If you are unable to resolve the issue at the first step and you wish to pursue the issue, then you must submit a grievance form in writing with a copy to your Employer and Union, within the time frame specified in your contract.

Please review the section of your contract "Settlement of Controversies", "Grievances" to determine when your grievance must be filed.
